Back from Vegas

It's been about a week since we returned from Vegas. Still recuperating... from inhaling all the CIGARRETTE SMOKE... my SKIN is recuperating from the dry/cold Air of Vegas as well as from the harsh chlorinated water they have over there. Most especially my TUMMY is recuperating from RICE withdrawal and ofcourse being STRETCHED to the extreme with all the buffets we ate at.... (bleh).... So what did we do when we got back? ... What else?.... we fed our "RICE" addiction with a trip to KURU KURU sushi! (salmon sushi - yum!) Anyhow - it was GREAT to get back to this ROCK we call home... I don't care what anyone says... Hawaii will always be my home... there's no place like it...

Enough of my "speech"... this is a craft blog after all... Anyhow a week without doing any crafts kinda got me down - so I decided to create something... that something were these:.... (below)

Made these 2 for my BFF's - (you guys know who you are - HK freaks! - ;)

This is how it looks like opened - put some photos of us for them.

This TY Hello Kitty beannie is for the both of them (hint - they are NURSES) - picked them up in Vegas. I hope they don't have it yet.
Another bag made for another good friend of mine. "S"

This is how it looks opened. I hope "S" likes it - she's been battling a health issue for some time now. She's been her usual BRAVE and COURAGOUS self... and well - I just wanted to know that I only wish I could be just as strong. (ha ha... I hope if she reads this blog - she'll ACT surprised when I give her the gift...)
Anyhow - it's almost APRIL - was kinda busy helping out for my neice's 1st birthday, invites, favors, centerpieces. The next project will be EASTER GOODIES... (well - Ian won't let me make any for his class) - but I've got neices and co-worker daughters that I can give to. ;)... what to make...

Till next time all'

Happy Girl's Day 2012

Happy Girl's Day everyone! It's a special day for all the girl's out there. Hope it's a fun day! - Below I made some little goodies for the special "girls" (and not so little girl's) in my life.

Besides it being GIRL's DAY - today is also my 17th Wedding Anniversary. (yes...17! YIKES!) - Where did the time go? It just flew by. It's been one CRAZY ride!!

A little something for my co-workers daughter - she's a pretty bright little girl - hope she likes the japanese doll bookmark, some nail BLING and ofcourse the chocolates.

I made some "extras" for the "NOT SO LITTLE" GIRLS in my life!! ha ha...(for the little girl inside)

Bridal Shower - The Crafts/Gifts

Now that the shower is done - I can have a bit of "creative" rest. ;) (until the next party I say) Anyhow - the following is "other" crafts that I made.
Made a little gift drawer for the bride to be

Inside the drawer was a little nightie - not as "risque" as the other pieces she got at the shower (hee hee)

A set of crockpot recipe cards for her . (geez. I think I mispelled her name...)

The other goodies I gave her...the crockpot to match the recipe cards.

Made some post-it holders - used in goodie bags for some of the prizes for the games.

The centerpieces. ;)

Bing's Bridal Shower

It's Valentine's Day - didn't do anything "special" but oh well... that's what happens when you've been married for almost 17 years and have 2 boys...(not complaining....) Anyhow got to finish  a project at least.
My co-worker Bing - is having a bridal shower this Sunday ... and below is what I decided to make.
It's a little basket made out of 12 x12 paper and some designer paper. The center has 3 Iris flower pens (Iris is her american name - and the color purple is her theme color) There are 4 pockets filled with candies.
It was fun to make. I made only 2 - coz they already have 3 other centerpieces made.

This one has blue tissue paper - it held the candies better
The 2nd centerpiece with raffia in it.... it didn't hold the candies too well.

The pens.

Hope Bing has a wonderful time at her party and I hope she likes the centerpieces and the gifts..

L-V Creations (My talented Auntie's Pottery)

I just wanted to take this time to pay homage to my auntie Elvie Anderson (aka L-V - the artist). She's my mom's sister and a very talented ARTIST. Below are some photos of pottery creations that she's generously given to us througout the years.

She's created quite a bit of mugs for us through the years - here's just a few.

She's created numerous bowls like this one.

Just one of her bowls or planters

One of her "earlier" pieces - a vase

One of her later pieces of vases

My aunt is deeply religious - and it shows in her artwork. This is a one of kind candle holder with the virgin mary on the front.

A ceramic basket - my mom uses it as a recipe card holder.

Here latest piece and gift to us - It's shaped into the form of a palm leaf and has many uses in the kitchen. Originally we used it as a serving dish for one of the dishes last christmas. For now - it's on our kitchen table holding fruit, snacks and all sorts of things. It's unique and beautiful.
As you can see - my aunt is one creative and talented lady eh?... Her other passions besides pottery is BEADING. She loves to create earrings and bracelets.  (And throughout the years she's gifted us with quite a bit of her creations)   She does sell her creations - sporadically when she finds the time - mostly during christmas at the craft fairs etc.  But if any of you are interested in any of her creations - she does take orders.  Pricing - I'm not sure what she charges for her creations. ;) - well - just email me if you'd like more information. (ijjjiscreations@gmail.com)

Anyhow that's all for now. Haven't really been "creating"... all my energy right now is going towards WORK... It's been one busy month of January - and it's almost OVER!!!... I do have some projects that I've put on hold - I want to throw a bridal shower for my co-worker (have ideas for favors and games )  and am also brainstorming with my cousin about her daughter's upcoming Graduation party this August... So my creative juices are still flowing... just need to have more time in the day. (I can't compromise my Korean Drama time!!! ha ah ah!!)

Till my next post - J

December is one busy month!

Greetings all.... it's almost Christmas... Can you guys believe it? This was one busy month for me - besides WORK being busy as usual - I've been busy CRAFTING. ;) I did my Xmas Shopping EARLY this year (and previous years also) - but still needed to CRAFT a box to house my little goodies. Below is a photo of the EXPLOSION gift boxes. They were fun to make - just use a 12 x 12 scrapbook cardstock paper, Sc at 4" each of  and decorate.

This is how it looks when it's opened - doesn't it look like it "exploded?"

I "fit" little goodies for da girls at a Xmas Brunch last weekend. Hope they liked it.

A little goodie box for guess... Brandie ;)

This is how it looks opened.
Last but not least - I had a Christmas Brunch that I attended last weekend at Hale Koa. Met up with the "old" Gang at STAT LAB. It was nice and fun CATCHING up about old times and what's new with them. MISS THEM.  Anyhow - made some White Chocolate Covered OREO lollipops with CANDYCANE sprinkles. I finally got to CREATE something with my chocolate fondue pot that my hubby gave me for xmas one year. (yay).

I hand dipped 50 of these babies...one night... i stayed up LATE... (I actually worked that same day...came home...watched korean...then decided to make them... bad decision - I stayed up till 2 a.m.) - didn't realize I had to "set" the lollipop stick in the cookie FIRST before dipping them... Then let them SET in the fridge AGAIN so that I may WRAP them up...So thus - I stayed up till 2 a.m. THAT's what you call L.O.V.E.!!! (or INSANITY... ha ha ha)

It's actually YUMMY and nice to look at.

Christmas Santa Puzzle Pin

Hello - been busy -... had a week off - yay...!! - (back to work Tuesday).
MADE - Christmas Santa Puzzle Pin.
I have TONZ of puzzle pieces that are just sitting and collecting DUST. (literally)... I get into these moods where I just wanna buy a 1000 piece puzzle of anything - thinking that we'll finish it as a FAMILY... (I just bought a 1000 pc puzzle of the LAST SUPPER..it has yet to be opened... ) Anyhow - I couldn't throw away the pieces - so found this project on the net. Painted the santa face - cut up some flower pieces using my FLOWER DIE for the cuttlebug, got some leftover pin backings - and VIOLA! - my next craft project.
I'll be handing them out at work - just the GALZ ofcourse - coz the GUYS won't where "pins"... yah know.

Below are the photos....

I made Reindeer Puzzle Pin years ago when I still worked at STAT LAB.

This one was a little harder to make - more gluing of the yes, the nose, the ears
and the bead.
